Structured Cabling

Structured cabling is the “circulatory system” of any building, “smart” or not. Throughout this system, its weak and strong currents require the appropriate handling to achieve maximum efficiency and safety.

Low currents are those that have a voltage of up to 12V and are used by alarms, telephones, and data transfers. And with the demands of technology for fast speeds being greater than ever, proper wiring plays a particularly important role to speed and convenience.

Powerful currents are those provided by Electricity Suppliers and have a voltage of 220-230V. Sockets, water heaters, kitchens and other “heavy” appliances need them. It is therefore of great importance to take the necessary care (either during construction or during the renovation of a building) so that the power supply is adequate and avoid future damages or failures to your devices.

Structured cabling is also involved in the design and installation of alarms so that the sensors are being put in the appropriate places and avoid areas that remain unattended. The same goes for video, data, and voice transmission over networks.

Thus, the applications in which the structured cabling is involved include fire systems and fire detection, security and access control systems, central energy control systems, temperature and ventilation control systems, data transfers (computer networks), voice systems (telephones and call centers) as well image and video transfers (as in digital TVs).
